Garden & Gun?

Posted in fun, gardening, Life, Pursuit of Happiness tagged , , , at 12:45 pm by Elaine Petrowski

Received an email today inviting me to subscribe to a recently launched, upscale, lifestyle magazine titled — of all things– Garden & Gun.

Check it out. Looks great, doesn’t it?

And take it from a long-time freelance writer.  A new magazine in this economy is certainly something to crow about.

As a self-avowed magazine junkie, I’ll do my best to pick up a copy on my next trip below the Mason-Dixon line.

But what about that title– Garden & Gun?

A bit  incongruous, especially given the chi-chi content.

Is it just me?

Gun sales are off the charts up in the “bible belt” almost 80%! President Obama, for some, equals Armageddon so our goofy friends in marketing see an emerging market – “would you like a mint julip with that hollow point?”

another thought……………………perhaps it is marketing…………..they are trying to expand the appeal of the magazine to both men and women since since there are so many women who garden and interest in guns, for the most part, is usually a “guy thing”……………This way they sell more magazines because it appeals to two different groups of buyers………..

I could understand the name, although a bit of an oddball concept for a magazine, if there was any reference to guns somewere in the magazine, but after a quick look at the link, I do not see anything remotely connected to the subject of guns.

Perhaps it is a typographical error ~ maybe the name of the magazine is really “Garden and Fun” or “Garden and Sun” I would not at all be surprised if this is the case. I find typos every day in the newspaper and internet news articles……….funny, considering we have spell checkers now! Seems some folks, even the “professionals” just rely on the their spellchecker and do not proof read for content.
